Props to Salt Lake International Airport for deploying this traffic-saving tool.
I drove to pick up a friend whose flight was delayed. Normally, I’d probably just be circling the airport’s ring road waiting for his text telling me to come pick him up curbside.
To save on vehicle emissions and reduce traffic and appease customer frustration (me), the airport authority paved a small parking lot just east of the ring road. They call it a “Park and Wait” lot. It’s free and faces this football-scoreboard-sized electronic message board.
When it’s time to pick up your passenger, they illuminate “PICK UP” next to the flight number:
Works slick. LAX should try this.
